Mitt Romney tonight delivered remarks in Manchester, New Hampshire:

Thank you Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York!  And tonight I can say thank you, America.  After 43 primaries and caucuses, many long days and more than a few long nights, I can say with confidence – and gratitude – that you have given me a great honor and solemn responsibility.  And, together, we will win on November 6th!

The direct election of senators has created the federal monster

By Louis Adimando

Ever wonder why the federal government does not respect the 10th Amendment? Because of the 17th Amendment. It changed our Republic forever by establishing the direct election of senators. Previously, senators were appointed by each state’s legislature. The direct election of senators has led to a marked erosion in states’ rights. No longer were senators beholden to their state legislatures; no longer would the interests of the states have representation in our federal government.

Our choice and federal government

“My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” John F. Kennedy 35th president of US (1917 - 1963)

Welcome to the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport. Number of flights per day – 3. Average daily traffic – 20 passengers.  Cost to the taxpayer - $150 million over the last decade. Federal budget provides $100 dollars subsidy for each passenger.

The Gravina Island Bridge (a.k.a. “Bridge to Nowhere”). Projected cost - $398 million. It supposed to serve Ketchikan Island, Alaska (population 50). After much publicity, bridge became a symbol of excessive budget spending. As of 2011, project’s federal funding continues.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Today we are poised for a great victory in November. The pundits and the pollsters tell us we can win this election. But we must tell the nation why we should win. It is up to us to prove that we are truly ready to step forward and lead this country. This election is not just about getting more votes. The photograph above is, of course, one of former Speaker of the House and current Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich. He was in town to sign his new book, A Nation Like No Other, along with his wife, who has a book of her own. But the most important part of his visit was a town hall forum held in the Hilton Garden Inn in Bloomfield, Staten Island...

A tea party conservative’s defense of Ron Paul…and his supporters

I want to state at the outset that this essay is not intended to be an endorsement of Ron Paul.

I want to state at the outset that this essay is not intended to be an endorsement of Ron Paul. While I respect and admire many of his positions and his fidelity to the constitution, I have strong misgivings about some of his stances on national security. If you could hear the debates between myself and my 20 year old son, a passionate Ron Paul supporter, you would readily accept the sincerity of my disclaimer.
